Did i have a right?

Yesterday I caught my best friends bf kissing another girl, so i told her like a true friend. Then today i saw him and he yelled at me calling me a liar and blah blah. so me and my best freind went to walk away and she grabed her by the hair to hit her, and i pushed him. then he spit on me, so i punched him. and landed a pretty nice hit to his eye. But when i went for a nother one he left. After he left i realized he was hitting my friend, wtf kinda of guy does that. and let me mind you were in high school. Im a white female, and he's a tall hispanic male. soo this must have looked funny when i hit him. but any ways.. I had a right... right? or not really a right.. but you know what i mean.. i wont let some one hit my friend then spit on me... is he crazy?!?! or am i??
