Approximately, how many pictures can an 8GB flash drive hold?

I need to make some sort of a back up for the m amount of pictures I have on an old computer. I'm afraid it's about to poop out on me so I need to do this before I lose them all. I was thinking about going the flash drive route, and found a smokin' deal on an 8GB. Will this be a sufficient amount of space for about 600+ pics? Thanks in advance!
