I want to know how to burn a DVD from start to finish.?

I don't want a list of programs. I need actual step by step instructions that will give me results. I have tried using DVD Flick and so far it has been unsuccessful...perhaps because I didn't follow all the instructions correctly. But if someone could tell me how to use it in the most lamest of terms, I could probably get it working. I don't know anything about codecs or encoding...just tell me what keys to push and I will do the rest. And if there is a special type of blank disc that I should aquire..please don't hesitate to put that information either.
